The Maguire Foundation enjoys a strong partnership with Saint Joseph’s University.  We are proud to support the University and many of its students, programs and initiatives.


Saint Joseph’s University Maguire Scholars

Maguire Scholars must achieve a minimum of a 3.0 cumulative high school grade point average on a 4.0 scale and be engaged in community service and/or extracurricular activities.


Maguire Academy of Insurance and Risk Management 

Created by James Maguire ’58, founder of Philadelphia Insurance Company, the mission of the Maguire Academy of Insurance and Risk Management is to promote and support the concept of risk management and insurance education; to provide services to risk management and insurance students, including scholarship aid, recruiting, internships/cooperative education, counseling and placement; and, with and through the University, to support the Department of Finance, which houses the risk management and insurance program.


Insurance and Risk Management Insurance Program

In July 2017, James and Frances Maguire pledged to establish multiple endowed funds in support of SJU’s Risk Management Insurance Program, providing critical support for faculty, scholarship opportunities for students, and professional development opportunities for both.


Alliance for Catholic Education at Saint Joseph’s University (ACESJU)

ACESJU is an innovative two-year service program that provides recent college graduates the opportunity to serve as full-time teachers and administrators in under-resourced Catholic schools in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia and Diocese of Camden while pursuing a master’s degree at either Saint Joseph’s University, Villanova University, or Neumann University.
